So Lil Bit had her first bath since she got here. I know it was long time, but it's been easy to clean her up. Just brush the dirt out of her hair. Only today she came in with mud from just under eyes, down her chest and legs to her tiny little feet. My poofy little dog is a tomboy. LOL So Joe said if I'd brush her, he's wash her. He missed a couple of spots but I got them with the damp towel. Joe said she did pretty well in the tub. He said she didn't like it but she didn't fight him or try to get out until he went to reach for the towel. So he hands Bit to me all wrapped in a towel, just her little wet head sticking out. She did not look happy. I took in the bedroom where I can close the door if she gets away from me. I was rubbing her dry and she liked that part. Then I had to clip her nails, that part she didn't like so much. ;-0 But I got it done anyway. I put some doggie conditioner on her to help with any mats and she had a couple. It took an hour to get her totally dry. I don't have a blow dryer, because I never bother using one on my hair. I wish you could see her, she's all fluffy and fresh looking. I noticed while brushing her that her fur almost sparkles. It's really shiney on the ends. Right now she looks like a little fox, all curled up with her head under her tail asleep in Joe's chair.
I've noticed something in the last couple of months about Lil Bit. When she's standing still her back feet turn out away from her body. It doesn't seem to slow her down at all. LOL I'll just have to watch her knees and hips when she's older.
Miss Scarlett did not like it at all when I had Bit in the bedroom grooming her. I don't know what her problem was, she's seen me do it before. I guess she was just having a bad day, I put her to bed early. She was driving me nuts with the screeching. I had Joe put her in her carrier and set her in his room while I messing with Lil Bit. He turns on the radio and she can see his fish tank. It's all bright and the fish are moving so she likes it. She didn't make a sound from in there. But I couldn't leave her there all night. LOL
On a totally different topic. I have a lot of family stories well just stories in general. And quite a few people lately have been telling me I should put them in a book. So the other night, I started putting them down on paper. As soon as I started that it got harder to remember them. LOL But some of them have just flowed onto the paper. I sent a couple of people a sample, I'll let you know what they think when I hear back.

The Latest!

Every time I come home I get a rundown on what Lil Bit has destroyed while I was gone. And there's something new everyday. I got up this morning to my brother telling Bits off for eating his sock, after he left his door open when came out of his room for just a minute. Of all the things she's gotten to yesterday was the winner. When I got home from taking Joe to work, Mom showed me a thin strip of wallpaper that Lil Bit had pulled of the wall. Now it's not funny but it is at least to me. LOL Now that piece had to be loose because it came off perfectly it didn't tear or anything so we can put it back up.
This dog is so sweet, but she's a little maniac too. ;-0
She's learned to sit and wait her turn for treats, she's learning not to run out the front door when I leave. Otherwise she has to be locked in her crate, because after I'm gone if Mom goes out to smoke Bits tries to run out and find me. She hates being locked in her crate, she has a tantrum you can hear outside with all the windows shut. ;-0 But she likes to go in her crate and sleep sometimes. She likes Sunshines crate best though and we find her sleeping in there a lot.
Miss Scarlett comes to the bottom of her cage at least once a day and chats with Lil Bit. Bit barks and makes howly growly sounds and Scarlett talks to her. It's so cute. ;-0

More puppy udates and other stuff

Little Bit is doing very well with the housebreaking. She's only had a couple of accidents in the last week. She loves to go out the doggie door with the big dogs. ;-0 She thinks she's hot cuz she can do that. She's a handful though, and more stubborn than any dog I've ever had. LOL As my uncle said maybe that just comes with being smart. My main problem with her is that she gets on the table I have set up as part of my desk. I eat here sometimes and she climbs on the chair on the side and gets on the table if I'm not here to watch her. So we're working on that. ;-0
Louie sometimes likes her and sometimes doesn't. ;-0 When I have to go out I put her in her crate and she gets ticked off. She barks and lets me know she's not happy. When I get home Louie runs to her crate and shows me where she is so I can let her out. As if I forgot where I put her. LOL
Louie was upset today, not by Little Bit, for a change. I took Mom to the doc and dropped her off, she had cataract surgery on her eye. When I came home with out her he kept looking at me and looking at the door. Then he laid by the front door till I left to go pick her up. I told him I was going to bring her home but he didn't believe me. Mom's surgery went well, she sees her regular eye doc in the morning for a follow up. Then in two weeks she's having the other eye done. When it's all done she'll be able to see better than me. LOL
Miss Scarlett is enjoying Little Bit. When Bits is in her crate making a racket Miss Scarlett will talk to her to try and make Bits feel better. ;-0 It's just so cute.
I've got to get Bits started on basic training she has absolutely no manners at all. She's just couth as hell. LOL She likes to stand on her hind legs so I'm going to try and teach her to dance once she learns manners.

Old Dogs, Young Pups & Broken Gates..........OH MY!
Yesterday, we finally got the back fence fixed so Little Bit can't wiggle out. But when my brother came through the gate to do that, he latch broke. So I had to go through the house and bring him a screw driver. Now he's holding the gate because Sunshine is on the other side pushing trying to get out. I'm moving as fast as I can on very uneven ground (that's not fast trust me). I get there and he can't fix it, the kid is just not very mechanical. ;-0 So I go to give it a shot when who should appear under my feet but, Bits. I have no idea how she got there, Joe grabs her so I can do the gate. I get it fixed so it's locked again. Then he notices a place where Bits can still get out under the gate. I take her he fixes the hole and all is well. LOL
Louie has been trying to play with Bitsy, but he gets very loud. ;-0 He really does like her, just most of the time he doesn't want to be bothered with her. You know like most older siblings when new baby comes home. LOL
Bitsy is doing okay on the housebreaking. She loves to follow the big dogs out the doggie door. If I tell her to go outside she runs right over and out the door. Sometimes I have to make sure she actually goes down into the yard though, or she'll just stand there and then come right back in. LOL
She chews on everything in sight, because of course she's a baby. She loves my shoes, and has ruined the laces on them. I need new shoes anyway but still. ;-0 The other night I was trying to eat dinner and she went into overdrive. She was making me crazy. Mom asked me if I was still glad I got a puppy. I said yes, it's just been a long time since I had to deal with all this.
Bitsy got her stitches out today. She met some nice people at the vets office, and had a nice sniff around outside. But she got sick in the car, she gets so nervous riding that she makes herself sick. I'm hoping she'll grow out of that like Louie did. Until then I'm just going to keep being prepared by bringing a towel to cover the seats.
Bits is very smart. She escaped from the baby gate I have on my bedroom door the first time I left her alone with Mom. She understands the word 'No!', very well. LOL She will walk on her leash as long as I'm on the other end. She's very attached to me. She loves everyone but she needs to know where I am at all times. She lays on my slippers and gets them all hairy. ;-0
Sunshine loves to run around the yard with Bitsy and has shown her the patrol route. Sunshine patrols the yard several times a day to make sure the perimeter is secure. LOL

Little Bit Settles In
Well, it's been exactly one week since I brought Little Bit home. She acts like she's been here forever. LOL Sunshine has calmed down, but she likes to play with Bits. Or at least try Sunshine isn't sure exactly how to play with her. Louie is doing better, but he's still not very happy with the new addition. It might be partly because he's just not feeling well this last week. The cold has hit us and if his legs feel as bad as mine he's in pain. We give him a couple of pills a day and that helps his pain but it makes him sleepy. She wants to play with him, but he just doesn't feel like it. The other day he was blocking her from getting through to the other side of the room. He was growling when she tried, she just hopped over him, he doesn't scare her at all. ;-0 I'm not sure if that's good or bad.
This afternoon when I had my quiet time, I tried to leave her on the floor in my room. But she was barking like a maniac. So I put her in her crate, she actually settled right down and went to sleep for a while. That's a first, I kind of wish she'd sleep in there tonight. But I'm not holding my breath. ;-0
Bits is doing okay with the housebreaking, as long as I go out with her every few hours. She won't go alone, I have to go out too. But that's good, I have to make sure she doesn't get out of the yard. We haven't had time to fix the fence yet, that's on for this weekend. She loves to run around with Sunshine. But any little sound will send her racing for the door. ;-0 The second day she was here, she brought me a dead bird. I saw something in her mouth but couldn't catch her before she got in the doggie door. She dropped it in front of my chair. Bits was very proud and I was very grossed out. LOL
So we're doing well, Miss Scarlett has perked up quite a bit since Little Bit came home. I don't know if it's the dog or the fact that I feel better so she's feeling better too. Scarlett is trying out some new words on me. I haven't quite been able to catch any yet, just enough to know that the sound is a word.

She finally has a name!
After trying to make several names fit, she's stuck with Little Bit or Bitsy. I called her that earlier today and when my brother came out to talk to her he called her that too. So I figured if we both came up with it, seperately then it must be right. Thank goodness her name isn't Foxy Bob. LOL
She has declared the tiny space between my chair and the boxes under my desk as hers. She has warned both of the big dogs off. Sunshine is still getting way too excited when Bitsy is moving about. But Louie is just not happy. For one thing Louie is jealous, I knew that going in to this. For another he just doesn't know what to do with Bitsy. ;-0
Now Miss Scarlett is very interested in the ball of fluff sharing our space. She's come down to the bottom of her cage to be eye to eye with Bitsy. Bitsy barked and Miss Scarlett stared, then climbed back up to her perch. LOL
We are getting ready to go have some quiet time, we've been out here in the hustle & bustle for quite a while. Plus I only slept for a couple of hours this morning and that was after Bitsy was out of her crate and in bed with me. ;-0
When I first met her she was much fluffier. They had to shave her to spay her so that's why she's not quite as fluffy as she should be. I found a doggie sweater I got for Dad's old Killer dog. It fits Bitsy, she's not sure she likes it but it's cold & windy out there today. So maybe she'll learn to like it or at least tolerate it when she has to go.

I'm Soooooo Excited!!!!!
I finally found my fluffy, little puppy today!!!!! I just happened to check the shelter web site right before I took my brother, Joe to work. And there she was a little red, pale red, pom. I called them and they told me she was going to a rescue. I told them I wanted to see her and would more than likely adopt her. I've wanted a pom for years and years.
So I went out there and they have a new state of the art facility. For so many years they just had one small building and a couple of sheds for storage.
So I go into the little room and they bring her in. She's 6 months old, and comes from a hoarder's house. That worried me a bit because dogs in those situtations don't get socialized much. But she's very curious, she checked out my leg brace, it didn't scare her she just wanted to see what it was. She's very kissy and sweet. She didn't know what to do with the toys in the room because she's never had any. I filled out the paper work and she's mine. I'll pick her up from the vet, tomorrow or Sat. after she's spayed. She doesn't have a name, so I'll have to figure out what it should be. I'll post pictures when I get some. I only have a small one on my cell phone right now. I asked her to sit for it and she did. ;-0
I don't have the words to tell you how excited I am right now. I haven't felt this good in years. I want to jump up & down, dance, yell it from a mountain top! LOL
I know I'll have to change my schedule so she can be trained. That's a good thing. Last time I was going through a time like this I had a dog named Duke. I had to get up at a decent time to care for him. I had to be active for him. So now maybe this will help get me moving along the right track again. I know it sounds like I'm putting a lot on her tiny little shoulders. But whether or not I'm movtivated she'll have a wonderful life her with us.
She's not housebroken but that shouldn't take long with Sunshine & Louie to help her. I want to take her to obedience school and socialize her. There's just so much to do. It's like bringing home a baby. LOL I went out to the pet store and got puppy food, a new bowl a couple of tiny little toys. :-) I was going to get a collar & leash but I realized I don't know what size collar to get. I know it has to be small but I need to know the exact size. So I'll do that after I pick her up. I'm thinking of getting her a tiny bell to put on her so I can hear her coming. ;-0 I did get Sunshine & Louie some special treats that they don't always get. I didn't want them to feel left out. Plus I let them smell me when I got home from holding her so they would at least maybe connect her scent to me. I'm not really worried about them not liking her. Louie loved Sunshine the minute we brought her in the house. Plus they used to have a little dog so they already know how to treat one.
Joe will have to dig Killer's crate out of the garage for me. I'm going to put it in my room. But I want her to learn to sleep on the bed with me eventually. Once she's all potty trained. ;-0 I have it all figured out how to make room for her and everything. I've been thinking about this a long long time.
So WOOOOHOOOOO!! LOL
